Tri State Relief Sale July 20-21, 2012

   The Mchenry fairgrounds will come alive July 20-21, 2012 for the 13th annual Tri State Relief sale. “We are one of 45 relief sales in the US and Canada which channel funds to the Mennonite Central Committee (MCC), the relief and development arm of the North American Mennonite and Brethren in Christ churches. Founded in 1920, MCC has over 850 volunteers in 52 countries involved in:

  • Food Relief
  • Job Creation
  • Agriculture
  • Peace-related Activities
  • Health and Education
  • Mental Illness and Disabilities

Bring the whole family and spend the day. Lots of kid’s fun will be on hand – including an auction just for them!

Browse amongst hand made crafts from around the world at Ten Thousand Villages. Find new and used books. On Friday evening enjoy leisurely shopping at the giant Silent Auction, with over 200 items.

Check out the Auction where Amish and Mennonite handcrafted items, Quilts, Artwork, and other items will be sold. There will also be craft items, plants, and lots of take-home baked goods at the Market Place.

You won’t want to miss the Amish horse-drawn carriage rides and tractor hayrides that will be available!

Check out the custom, antique and hot rods at the Classic Cruise-In. Better yet crank up your favorite custom, antique or street rod and cruise to the annual TriState Relief Sale. The first 50 cars receive a dash plaque – no registration fee. Hosted by the Mt. Top Cruiser’s Car Club. Check out pictures from last year in the Photo Gallery.

Relish the homemade foods available such as pancakes & sausage, chicken barbecue, potato bar, taco salad, doughnuts, strawberry shortcake and much more.

 

Deep Creek Lake Art & Wine Festival September 7-9 2012

An instant favorite end of summer event at Deep Creek Lake is the Deep Creek Lake Art & Wine Festival. Benefiting the American Red Cross the Art and Wine Festival will be held September 7-9, 2012 at the Garrett County Fairgrounds, McHenry MD. An opportunity to sample wines from over 200 Maryland and National wineries. This is paired with displays from artisans, live music, childrens activities and wine pairing dinners, food, silent auction and more.

Friday evening several local restaurants will be hosting wine pairing dinners. See the website for more details.

Saturday noon til 6:00 pm the main festivities occur. Scheduled music as follows.

  • Travis Minnick : Noon – 1:00 pm
  • Dmitry Kubin: 1:00 – 1:30 pm
  • Brothers Short: 1:30 – 3:30 pm
  • Dmitry Kubin: 3:30 – 4:00 pm
  • Sugar Foot Stompers : 4:00 – 6:00 pm

Sunday their will be several brunches at local eateries.
